Elements of interior design part 2

This week we talked about the result of the elements of design that include light, color, texture and patterns. Light is a big factor when it comes to interior design because it c a change the way things look and without it we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between things. Light can affect the mood of a space. The different kinds of lighting includes ambient, mood, task, and accent lighting. Ambient lighting is lights that help to give the space something more. Mood lighting is where there is a kind of light that can affect the tone/mood of the space. This kind of lighting is often used in many restaurants and business buildings as well. Task lighting is placed where people would complete tasks that help reduce eye strain. The final kind of light is accent lighting. This kind of lighting is used to shine a light on something specific. This kind of lighting is often used to shine a light on art work, photos and many more places.

Next we talked about color. Color is very important and can have a large impact on people. Colors that are warmer can make a person feel welcomed and cooler colors can make people feel very relaxed. Colors can either be all one color in one room or they there can be a mix of colors. With that being said different color schemes would include analogous, monochromatic, tragic and complementary. Different colors also give off different feelings for people.

Texture is the next topic and texture is something that can affect the color perception. Different textures including smooth surfaces, rough surfaces, and glossy surfaces. There are also textile texture and visual texture too.

The last thing we talked about was patterns. Patterns are something that help thing style and personality to a room. Patterns can be in a sense of wallpaper, the floor, furniture, and also decorations.
